Indonesia is a largest tuna producer in international fishing market. FAO Indonesia stated that Indonesia is one of the potential countries in tuna industry.

In 2016 Indonesia supplies about one million tons of tuna or 16 percent of the world’s total tuna supply (Source: KKP News). There are about 7,7 millions metric ton of tuna and its species caught all over the world.
The number of Indonesia’s tuna export reach 198.131 ton worth US$659,99 million in 2017.
Tuna is a saltwater fish that belongs to the tribe Thunnini, a sub grouping of the mackerel family (Scombridae). Tuna has a broad species such as Tuna Mata Besar (Bigeye Tuna), Madidihang (Yellowfin Tuna), Albakora (Albacore), Cakalang (Skipjack Tuna), and Tuna Sirip Biru Selatan (Southern Bluefin Tuna).
Tuna can be a good source of omega-3 fatty acids. Tuna contains vitamin A, D, B6, B12 with high levels of mineral.
Indonesia’s government has a commitment supported tuna conservation and natural resources management in WPP by launching Harvest Strategy Framework document.
Through Kementerian Kelautan dan Perikanan and IPNLF Indonesia also held events in tuna industry titled Bali Tuna conference which has reach their 3rd years and 6th International Coastal Tuna Business Forum in order to show their commitment and support in this industry.
On The 3rd Bali Tuna conference and The 6th International Coastal Tuna Business Forum, Kementerian Kelautan dan Perikanan (KKP) and International Pole and Line Foundation (IPNLF) made a joint commitment where International tuna buyer who had signed up with IPNLF and bought tuna in premium price will get Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) certificate.
This will help supplier and distributor in tuna industry like KOMIRA in the producing and processing their products.
